PROJECT 3B: OBJECTS CONNECTION - A ComforTABLE CHAIR

Unity is the theme for this project. It is a group work of three people. The chair and table which I had designed was based on the concept of repetition and minimalist to suit with the unity theme. For me, there are a few values in the design. The repetition of the same shape and the assembly of those similar pieces created a great unity. In our real life, in order to unite, we too have to find out our similarities that we  have and unite to form a strong group or society. We need to forget for a while the differences that we have which may separate us apart.

It was an ergonomic and yet a simple design.

This project was the first group project we had for RUS104. I had learnt to improve more on my teamwork, cooperative and leadership skills. Team work was the most important in order to burn our midnight oil together to accomplish our mission. Besides, I learnt patience and acceptance too.

PROJECT 3A: OBJECT CREATION - A FREE-FORM SCULPTURE

Harmony is the theme for the free-form sculpture. My design was derived from the concept of nature. Nature and harmony cannot be separated. Everything in nature created in balance and interrelated to each other thus creating harmony. Nature in a perspective was believed to form from the big bang theory while it was a fact that everything in nature created from an atom which form particles, molecules and so on. My design represents something which sparks out from a small size and growing to become bigger and bigger. The materials used were chopsticks.

PIMPIN SISWA CAMP

As a first-year student of USM, I had joined the PIMPIN Siswa Camp (4th series) at Kem Perik II, Kuala Nerang, Kedah. It is a programme held to develop the personality and individuality as university student. (click here for more info about PIMPIN Siswa) I was in Platun 11 and the following are some of the photos of me and my group mates, shared on the Facebook Group of PIMPIN SISWA PERIK II, 2013.

Date: 27-29 September 2013
Venue: Kem Perik II, Kula Nerang, Kedah

From the camping programme, I had learned to love USM more and strengthen my personality. The skills that had been improve are communication, leadership, teamwork and also managerial. Besides, it had enhance my mental and physical endurance. In my opinion, every student in Malaysia has to participate in the camping programme similar to this PIMPIN Siswa because we as students can get a lot of benefits from this kind of programme.
